The goal of the report is analysis of the structure and magnetic properties of nanomaterials based on iron oxides. Nanopowders comprising particles of Fe3O4 or γ-Fe2O3 with an average size of 10 - 75 nm were produced by various chemical methods. The nanopowders composed of the particles with average sizes of 10 nm demonstrated superparamagnetic properties. However, the hard magnetic properties were characteristic of the nanopowders with average particle sizes of 30 - 75 nm. Application prospects of nanomaterials based on iron oxides are under discussion.
