The treatment of the surface segregation is the main objective of this work which in the first place consists in modeling theoretically the phenomenon of segregation either at the surface or in the grain boundaries. The target system chosen as implementation of this study is the binary system Ni-S due to its great importance in various fields of research and due to its fundamental interest in research related to stainless steel systems. . In this framework, approximations have been made to develop a thermodynamic model for the calculation of the surface properties, especially the surface concentration and the surface tension, as well as the free enthalpy of segregation. The results show good agreement with the practical results achieved in other works.
